about

Soviet Dubs is a new series from Vadz. And it’s all about dubstep. In fact, it’s something between ‘dub’, ‘step’, and ‘tech’, with samples of an old Sovied pop music hits. The first volume consists of 2 tracks. ‘Morre Morre’ (‘Moh-re’ = the sea in Russian) is a storming bass-heavy piece with strongly filtered, but readable insertions of a song about the sea by Yuri Antonov, famous russian singer, plus samples taken from a newscast about a shipwreck. In Russian, of course. Ride the dope wave! The other song is filled with gypsy aesthetics – it uses loops, cut of a song about young woman by Efrem Amiramov (‘Molodaya’ means green-ass in Russian), with a huge chant in it’s second part. A pure nano-gitano reggae riddim! The series of Soviet Dubs won’t grow fast – but the fact that it has already got huge resonance is quite obvious!
